How to Safely Use Our Products
Because nature’s power deserves respectful care.
At Wade into Nature, we carefully formulate our products using natural ingredients and pure essential oils to support your skin's health and well-being. But even the most natural ingredients can cause irritation or reactions if not used properly. Here’s everything you need to know to ensure your experience with our products is not only effective, but safe and enjoyable.
Why Safety Matters — Even with Natural Products
Natural does not always mean risk-free. Essential oils and botanical ingredients are powerful — which is why they work so well! But it also means they need to be used mindfully, especially if you have sensitive skin, allergies, or underlying conditions.
1. Start with a Patch Test
Before using any new skincare product, always perform a patch test — especially if it contains essential oils or you have reactive or sensitive skin.
Here’s how:
- Apply a small amount of the product to a discreet area, like the inside of your wrist or behind your ear.
- Wait 24–48 hours and observe for any redness, itching, stinging, or swelling.
- If no reaction occurs, the product is likely safe to use as directed.
If any irritation or discomfort develops, discontinue use immediately.
2. Who Should Be Cautious or Avoid Use
While our products are gentle and crafted with care, certain groups should take extra caution:
⚠️ Pregnant or Breastfeeding?
Some essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy or lactation. While we use safe dilutions, we advise you to consult with your healthcare provider before use — especially for products with oils like clary sage, rosemary, or peppermint.
👶 Babies and Young Children
Children’s skin is more delicate, and essential oils can be too strong for them. Our adult-formulated products are not intended for children under 12 unless specifically labelled as child-safe.
🌿 Skin Conditions (Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis)
If you live with a skin condition, consult your healthcare provider or dermatologist before using products containing essential oils. Even natural ingredients can aggravate sensitive skin.
3. When to Stop Using a Product
Listen to your skin. It will let you know when something isn’t right.
Stop using any product if you notice:
- Redness or rash
- Burning, stinging, or itching
- Dry, flaky, or swollen skin
- Breakouts that weren’t there before
Discontinue use and rinse the area with cool water. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical advice.
4. Storage and Usage Tips for Safe Skincare
To keep your products safe and effective:
- Store them away from sunlight and heat, as essential oils degrade over time when exposed to light and air. The base oils and butters can turn rancid. If you notice a smell like old crayons, discontinue use.
- Use clean, dry hands or a spatula to avoid introducing bacteria.
- Keep lids tightly closed to preserve freshness and stability.
5. Trust Our Formulations — But Know Your Skin
All Wade into Nature products are handcrafted in small batches using natural, skin-friendly ingredients. We follow safe dilution guidelines and use only pure, ethically sourced essential oils and carrier oils and butter. But everyone's skin is different. That’s why we always recommend starting slow — especially if you have reactive or allergy-prone skin.
